Experienced Copy /
Line Editor for hire
Hi there, I am an experienced writer looking to earn a
little money at home. I have many, many years of experience with copy / line
editing and have been doing this type of work free lance for a community of
fiction writers for the past several years. I work with a contract so as to
protect you, the writer, and you will always know that your work stays your
work and I am only here to polish it up and make it shine brighter.
I work on a sliding scale of pay dependent on these things:
Type of editing: For example, copy editing
to correct spelling and grammar mistakes costs less than a substantive edit. Line
editing is much more extensive and time consuming, there for more expensive.
Quality of writing: The more work I have to
do to make the manuscript presentable, the more the editing will cost. Skilled
writers with relatively clean manuscripts pay less. So normally, I will want to
see your manuscript or at least a sample before I can determine the costs of
editing.
Length: Novels cost more than short stories
or novellas, of course.
Number of read-throughs: If you want me to
go through the manuscript more than once, you’ll probably pay more. (All minuet
details about the specific editing process can be discussed when the agreement
is being made.)
Copy Editing and
Beta-Reading: $3.50 - $4.00 per page (Dependent on the above outlined
factors.) I will be doing one while I do the other so both are included in this
price.
Line Editing and
Fact Checking: $5.00 - $6.00 per page (Once again, dependent on the
above outlined factors.) Again, I will be doing both. If I am going to be as
precise as I like to be when line editing, then I am going to fact check as
well.
If you are interested in my services, please contact me at Blacksheepfiction@yahoo.com
Please include your name, email address and a sample of your
work in the body of the email. Make “Story Submission” the subject line and you
will hear from me within 24 hours. Thank you!
Please note that I
have neither pull nor weight in the publishing process. I edit, that is what I
do. I am not a publisher and have no connections to publishers. After it leaves
my hands and returns to yours, the rest is up to you.
