Bound and Sold
"Bound and Sold" is an action-packed mystery novel set amidst a small town with dark secrets. It centers around several misfit friends uniting against all odds to help uncover a child trafficking ring operating right at their doorstep in a supposedly safe and charming town.
The main character, Blake Porter, ingrains herself within the community by working at the local juvenile center. Her life takes a dark turn when children in her care start to disappear without a trace. Blake sets out to find answers with the help of her sister Ryley, longtime friends Peter, Max, the newest employee of the local bar Jess, the ever enigmatic Seven, and the stoic Deverick.
The deeper Blake and her colleagues go, the more they find out about the horrific child-kidnapping and -trafficking scheme that involves the town's most respected figures.
This is a very thrilling and exhilarating story, as the group is taking on powerful people who will stop at nothing to keep whatever they are hiding buried. As evidence is gathered, personal relationships must be dealt with, past traumas particularly, especially for Seven, with her unique perspective born of such a dark past and rather unconventional insights.
The story has themes of trust, betrayal, and a quest for justice pressing the ties of friendship and the human spirit to the extreme. This novel ends on a hopeful note, with the community gathering to heal and celebrate their triumph over darkness but with lingering shadows of those still unaccounted for.
